A couple weekends ago I attended the Springfield Antique Show And Flea Market in Springfield, Ohio.
Three words.
Fun. Funky. Fantastic.
It really runs the gamut from fine antiques, to high end shop wares, to rusty junk right out of a barn (my favorite), to good old fashioned flea market crapola (that's French for stuff).
And twice a year they have what they call the Extravaganza which is HUGE! Something like 2-3 thousand vendors and over 25, 000 shoppers!!!
It's been featured in Country Living as one of the top antique shows in the country.
There were lots of industrial items at the show this year.
Many, many vendors had these industrial letters.
So many that I would guess that they are new metal letters made to look old with a faux rust technique. Not accusing anyone of anything shady here, but unless an alphabet soup factory just exploded, it just doesn't make sense.
Lots of fun toys.
This bright red Buddy L circus truck was in amazing shape.
It might not be apparent in this phot, but this is a child sized stove. In jadeite green!!!
If there's one thing I regret not buying it's the toy stove!
This green and red hutch was calling my name. It must have been calling someone else's name louder though, because when I went back later to check it out again, it was gone.
Why do I do that? I walk away and then expect the flea market Gods to know I was interested in it.
Glass jars were plentiful at the show this year. These "cracker" jars from Anchor Hocking are similar to the one I used in my terrarium tutorial.
Donna at Funky Junk Interiors was nowhere to be seen, but her notoriety lives on in rural Ohio. Vintage Scrabble pieces continue to be a big decor item.
What a cool typewriter!
I do own quite a few typewriters but I normally find them at the thrift stores for under $20. This one was pretty unique though!
And last, but not least, a Hawthorn bike.
I should have bought this on name alone, but I just couldn't part with $60.
$20, maybe. $60, no.
Have you ever been to the Springfield Antique Show And Flea Market?

I'm not a purist, but I hope whoever was selling those letters at least disclosed that they are not truly old! I've often been surprised how many unsuspecting souls get hoodwinked.

I went to Springfield last year and it was a blast! I was wishing I could go again this year since we only live a couple of hours away, but we're getting to make a big cross country move and Hubs has declared I don't need anymore junk to pack. Next year we'll live close enough to the Renninger's Extravaganza in Mt. Dora though, so I can make up for it. 🙂

Thanks for taking us along. It's been storming here for days and I doubt I'll get out to many, if any, sales tomorrow. It was fun shopping with you and not having to wear my rainboots or get my hair wet!
