Have you seen some of the amazing holiday home decor people have been showing on their blogs this year? From Craftberry Bush's gorgeous wintery tree to The LilyPad Cottage's cozy ski lodge-inspired decor to Savvy Southern Style's Christmas sunroom, I am truly in awe of what people are doing in their homes to get in the holiday spirit.
I'm. Just. Blown. Away.
Well, I hope you got your fill of THAT kind of stuff, because today is going to be a little different. We're on another track here.
Making a stop in Tackyville on the way to Kitsch City. On a train called Ugly.
This is one of those concrete gooses that you would put on your front porch way back in the early 90's. With a lighted Christmas tree outfit on him. If only the lights were blinking we'd be all set.
Yep, that would be the icing on the cake.
Hey, these concrete geese were all the rage back then.
People used to dress them up for the holidays. Little bunny ears and a basket for Easter . . . witch's outfit for Halloween . . . maybe a Pilgrim outfit for Thanksgiving.
Wow, did she find this nugget of goodness at the thrift store, you may be asking yourself?
I actually bought this outfit (not one of my proudest moments) years ago for the goose that was on my mom's porch.
Not sure why I've kept it all these years, but when I did my big Christmas decor purge this year (got rid of quite a few boxes of old 80's Christmas decor), I kept this one.
Disclaimer: I put it on the goose for these pictures and then quickly removed it and put it back in my "can't give away, but don't actually use" Christmas decor box.
I guess I kept it because my mom loved it.
And that, my friends, is why I will never have a completely clean and organized house. If I can't get rid of THIS one, then I have a problem.
In other breaking news: Be careful what you wish for.
On the last post, I mentioned that I wish I were all caught up on holiday chores so I could relax and enjoy some sappy Hallmark Channel Christmas movies.
Well, I have all the time in the world to watch Christmas movies now, my friends.
I spent the better part of the day yesterday at the ER getting my ankle checked out. I was certain I had broken it (judging by the loud crunch and accompanying pain) when I fell down the last two steps of the staircase in my house. But it appears I just have a severe sprain. I cannot put one ounce of weight on it, so there will be no more running all over town to pick up last-minute gifts.
So if you need me, I'll be here watching all the wonderful Hallmark Channel movies and finishing up my holiday shopping online. And having the nice relaxing last few days before Christmas that I wished for. Damn wishes.

Been there, done that! The foot thing, I mean. Take care of yourself! When I crunched my foot in September, I chose a wheelchair instead of crutches. Best decision I could have made. It cost only a few dollars more than crutches and you are mobile without pain! Get some rest! Enjoy your holidays! Linda@Wetcreek Blog

Oh my goodness Pam, hope that ankle is healing quickly. This is such a busy time of the year, you don't need to be out of action for long. Happy holidays.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, noooooooooooo!! (Mr.Bill)
I'm so sorry you're out for the count right before Christmas, Pam! I'm happy it's not broken, but I'm sure that's not much comfort right now. I hope you heal quickly!!
I cracked up at your goose dressed as a tree!! I have a coworker that had an outfit for every season for her concrete goose, but I have to say, the tree is the silliest of all, and for that reason alone you should never get rid of it.

If I lived near you I would love to run errands for you. But, since I'm in Michigan.....you will have to shop online. Sorry. Your blog and one other is the one I look at every single day. Merry Christmas!
Pam
That's so sweet! I got a lot of my shopping done online today and then my husband is going out to the grocery store tomorrow so I made a BIG list of things for him to get. I even made a map of the grocery store for him too 🙂
Erica
Not again!! Lounging around, watching sappy holiday movies sounds like a wonderful life (pun totally intended). But NOT if you are in pain!
Feel better friend!

Pam--I'm going to be your mother here and make sure you're taking your calcium supplements.Need to keep those bones strong and healthy. Hate to hear you've had another fall, ouch!
Pam
You know, I bought calcium pills when I broke my arm in August, but I had stopped taking them. So I am going to drag them out and start up again, "mom" 🙂 Thanks for the reminder!

Oh no. So sorry. If there is a I can do I am somewhat free next week. I quit unpacking boxes for the time being. I could do an errand or two for you.
at Christmas I was so proud of myself for having everything done. I had set things out for baking and went t pick up my daughter. Well, I told her to be careful on the ice and boom I went down. I ended admitted to the hospital on the 23r. Now this gets better. I had just been off crutches for 10 days from the previous fracture on my same leg. We checked me out of the hospital as they wanted to keep til after Christmas to cast the leg. I already knew use crutches. So you be careful. Let me know if you need anything.
Pam
Thank you so much for the offer! But my husband is only working half days from now until Christmas, so I should be set now.
I'm just having the hardest time using these crutches though! I tend to hop instead of glide easily like people do on the videos I watched on youtube about how to use them. Hopefully it won't be too long before I can put a little weight on it.
I still have your phone number so if something comes up I'll call you 🙂
Judy Clark
So sorry to hear about your tumble! Not a good time of the year to do that!! I think the Christmas tree on the goose is cute. Don't let anyone tell you any different.

Ouch! I'm so sorry about your ankle. Being without two functioning legs is going to make things difficult when taking care of your son. Christmas hugs!!
chris aka monkey
that goose made me laugh so dam hard, then i read you hurt yourself again and felt like poop for laughing, and i would put that outfit on the goose if i had one, so it's gonna be a wonderful world kinda Christmas for you, rest my friend then when you get better don't go down stairs for a while that's how you broke your arm if memory serves me
MERRY CHRISTMAS PAM XX
Pam
Yeah, steps and I are not friends. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Ugly Christmas Sweater parties are all the rage now. Your goose would love it! Hope your ankle heals soon..... enjoy those movies!
Linda @ Itsy Bits And Pieces
OH no, Pam! No fun, I've been there. You know, the years I've been laid up at Christmas were some of the least stressful and enjoyable. I guess there's a lesson in that. Rest and get some pampering, girl...and enjoy those Hallmark movies!
It would be funny to have a party of ugly decorations...we all have them...
