    Christmas Porch Decorations

Published by Pam Kessler | 689 words. · About 4 minutes to read this article. - 31 Comments

    It's Christmas porch decorations day!!!

I get so excited to decorate my porch every year for the holidays. I spend days (months?) trying decide what to do each year.

    Will it be Kitschy?

Join 8 bloggers as we showcase our Christmas porches. From farmhouse to French country to vintage to lodge style, you're sure to find something to inspire you.

    Vintage?

    Farmhouse?

    Traditional?

It's always such a big decision. But a fun one.

And today I'm extra-excited to be joining 7 other bloggers in a Christmas Porch Tour, hosted by Amy at Atta Girl Says . At the bottom of the post I'll link to the other girls so you can drool over their festive porches!

    So drum roll please . . . .

Where's The Little Drummer Boy when you need him?

This year I decided to go Rustic Farmhouse Plaid With A Hint Of Nature.

Festive Christmas porch decorations that transition easily from Christmas to winter are found on our rustic, farmhouse, plaid and nature inspired porch.

    Huh?

    Just roll with me here.

It all started with this yummy arched screen I had bought a few weeks ago at a local shop. When I bought it I had NO IDEA in the world what I was going to do with it.

But come one, how often do you see an arched screen?

I had the screen setting in the garage the day I brought home the flocked wreath from JoAnn's.

I had actually bought the wreath to put in my dining room, but on the way home from JoAnn's I noticed the wreath was de-flocking itself all over my front seat.

Since I didn't want to get flocking all over the house just yet (that stuff is wicked), I hung it on the screen for safekeeping until I was ready to start decorating the house for Christmas.

    And it never moved again.

Since the wreath looked so perfect on the screen, I knew they both needed to be the focal point of my porch decor.

As I was hanging up the screen, I noticed that my peach baskets, that at the time had fall mums in them, looked sort of spiffy next to the screen.

Since I couldn't very well have dead mums hanging out on my porch for Christmas, off I went to the local nursery to buy the greenery for some winter porch pots.

The rest just sort of fell into place after that!

The plaid throw is actually one of those large blanket scarves. I bought it at Kohl's, but I don't see it on their online site.

It's plaid on one side and herringbone on the other and if it comes back to their site I'll link to it for you. Because it really is that special!

Sometimes it just takes a little nudge from flocking flying all over the place to create the Christmas porch of your daydreams.

Thank you for the simple tutorial on placement of greens. It always seemed so hard to get it just right, but you make it easy. Beautiful.

Pam, it's beautiful! I love the rustic look, and I love the arched screen. I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't know what to do with things when they buy them. Trouble is, there's a LOT I have that I'm still waiting for inspiration on! I love the black rocker, the plaid scarf, and the wreath together with your porch greenery. I see other people's greenery they decorate with & I think to myself, "how lucky that they live in a place where they can get that kind of greenery." Head slap....I forgot you can just go buy it at the Christmas tree places. Duh.

Pam, that photo of the greenery in the basket is stunning! And I'm with you, no flocking for me either! Before I started blogging, we had a real flocked tree on the front porch and I was vacuuming that stuff up for months! And I wish you had a link to an arched screen because I want one! LOL! (I had someone who wanted to purchase the wooden truck on our front door today!)

Love, love, love your porch. I just started on mine but had to put it on hold while I watch my young grandson. Will finish it when he naps! You've given me a great idea with your screen - just wish mine had a beautiful curve like yours does!

      Thanks for the inspiration!

I love that you kept it real about the flocked wreath (from hell). I love the look of flocked wreaths and trees, but can you imagine how messy they are? Keep that stuff outside!

I love your rustic plaid porch; your greenery is stunning. I'm seriously in love with that peach basket arrangement. So glad to have you as a part of this tour.

These are all really pretty. I like yours the best. I was in Target the other day in the Christmas section of course. I found a cute little bird dressed with red hat with flaps and a red and black plaid jacket. Had a green scarf around his neck with a ( what looks like ) canteen around his neck. Thought of you. This bird was about 6 inches tall.
Also saw a few plaid picnic baskets etc. in Milford's Small Business day this past weekend. Guess I like your style as when I see these I think of you even with out meeting you.
I picked up 4 antique hankies and an adorable apron made out of the same type material as the hankies. Although I've always loved the older style I think you are rubbing off on me more and more.

Pam your outside porch always looks nice!! As usual you did a really nice job. I'm inspired to do mine now. Mine is smaller but it's best feature is a fire engine red bench that will all done up for Christmas.

I love the wreath and thanks for the heads up on the flocking. How do you hang things on your siding? That is the dilemma at my house.

Whoever owned the house before we did screwed a rather large screw right into the siding. I do not recommend that method 🙂 The hardware stores sell hangers that you attach to the siding though. I used one at my previous house and it worked well. If you go to the Amazon site and do a search for "siding hanger" you'll see what they look like!

Thanks for sharing the info about the siding hanger. I haven't hung anything on my porch in the years since getting the same type. NOW, I get to decorate my porch!
