Olympic makes an spray can of wood sealer that works fairly well. You'd want to make sure you sprayed both inside and out. But the wood those types of baskets are made out of won't last forever. The ones I normally put on my porch in fall and winter have lasted 5 years, but they are under the cover of the porch. Ones I've put out in the open outdoors normally only last a 1-2 years. The wood tends to split on those with all the changes of weather they're subjected to here in Ohio.
