Seems like I always have apples on my mind this time of year.
A few years ago, I talked about how I cheated on my favorite Golden Delicious apples by using Gala apples for my front porch decor.
Galas apples are so much more photogenic than the plain Jane Golden Delicious apples, you know.
Gala apples are the Veronicas of the apple world. Golden Delicious apples are the Bettys. There, I've said it.
Well, I've done it again.
I don't really even like Red Delicious apples, but darn if I didn't buy them because they would look better in my Fire King apple bowl.
But seriously, how could you put anything OTHER than red apples in this bowl?
I think I paid $4 for this bowl at a yard sale a few months ago. I probably paid about the same for the apples.
The 1960's Aladdin lunchbox is the same one that you saw in my Cozy Hot Cocoa Station back in December.
Since it's the lunchbox I always pined for as a child, but couldn't have because my Mom always used brown paper sacks, I'm using it wherever I can.
Old crushes die hard.
And no, we never really eat at this table.
And I love that, because I can make my table vignettes as big and colorful and obnoxious as I want, without having to worry if someone is going to have enough room to put their plate.
Or if they're going to get lockjaw from my rusty scale.
So what kind of apples is your favorite?
Do you throw caution and common sense to the wind and put rusty items on your kitchen table?

Happy Monday Pam!

Honeycrisp apples are my favorite! You can only get them for a few weeks out of the year and they are usually expensive ($2.99/lb). But so worth it! Sweet, crisp, and the size of a softball. I think I am going to try and hunt some down today.
I was just looking at my dining room table yesterday and realized that I haven't done a vignette since the 4th of July. What in the world is wrong with me?!
Have an awesome week~

I'm a Gala apple girl, all the way. But I agree the photo shoot looked great with the ones you used. LOVE that thermos lamp. You could make a bundle selling them. Something unique.

Always love your vignettes. We rarely eat at our table either and it never looks as neat as yours. Believe it or not, I don't like apples. Yes, it's true. Un-American, I know. Some would go so far as to say un-human. BTW, I have an Imperial MARK XII Flash. It's . . . drum roll . . . . turquoise!

I love Honeycrisp but like to bake with a mix of them so I always have a nice colorful bowl full. Love that lunchbox...I had The Partridge Family.
We actually use our table but that doesn't stop me from loading it up with my vignettes. We just move things to the side to eat! 🙂

I love fruit, especially raspberries, but when apple time arrives in Maine, I am in heaven. The renewed interest in old time apple varieties is a wonderful development and I am always on the lookout for new taste treats. Ginger Golds, which look likd Golden Delicious but are crisper, with a different taste are my favorites right now because this is their season.
Pam, just a thought. I worked in a lamp store with some wonderful folks from Lebanon and if you don't mind my commenting, the shade on your adorable thermos lamp is too small. We always advised bringing in a lamp if your were shopping for a shade because that is the best way to find the right look. You don't want something too large, but you shouldn't see the hardware. I think you did such a smart redo, I know it would look even better with a bigger shade...just sayin'

I'll see if I can find another one around here 🙂

Beautifully arranged! I put everything and do all kinds of projects on my dining table...that's why there are marks of black and red paint on the top now...I just say its character. I see Linda wrote about your post...makes me happy!

This is so pretty, Pam! I love all the pieces you brought together here! Honeycrisps, Haralsons (on one of our trees) and Braeburns are my favorites...nothing like fall apples!

I'm a diehard Braeburn or Honeycrisp fan, so if I've got apples in a bowl they've got to be my faves. Your table is looking pretty spiffy with its red plaid accessories, and your thermos lamp looks so cute on your little cupboard! I finally bought the parts I need to rewire my ceramic pumpkin lamp (after being inspired by you), and it's been laying in pieces on the buffet for 2 weeks. Maybe today will be the day.
