I have been trying to find a vignette to put these guys in for a couple days now. Tried them all sorts of places and finally just plopped them on top of my suitcase next to my McCoy vase full of pussy willows.
Sometimes you have to just stop thinking so hard about something.
I found my friends in a store closing sale last fall, so I picked them up for half price. $5.00 a hare.
The tags say they are vintage Easter candy containers. And I really want to believe that.
I really do.
But something about them says "a little too roughed up to be really vintage" to me. Like they are trying a little too hard.
Whatever their age, these two guys make me smile and dream of tulips and daffodils and running naked through fields of jelly beans.
Here's a question for you. Assuming these are vintage, did these paper mache candy containers come filled with candy when purchased or were they just empty containers that you bought to add your own candy to?
You can say that your Grandmother told you about them, if you don't want to admit to being old enough to remember them in person. I do that all the time.

Cute bunnies. I vaguely remember having one, but I don't remember if the candy already came in them. I think the "Easter Bunny" put it in. 🙂 Mine was standing with a basket on it's back.

They are cute as can be and I have pussy willows in my house right now too! 🙂 Great Minds Think Alike, ha ha

Love the bunnies....I don't know if they are really vintage or not because I am way too young..snort, laugh..to know. If they are reproductions, they are good ones! LOVE the colors on them!
Now, about running naked through a field of jelly beans.....????
