Festive front porch fall decor mixing traditional with farmhouse for a perfect fall look!
And by farmhouse I DO NOT mean all neutral and off-white with a hint of greige mixed in. No way, no how.
I'm Team Colorful all the way.
I guess I'm a farmhouse rebel like that.
And today this fall loving rebel is happy to be participating in the Welcome Home Fall Tour.
If you are coming from Jennifer at Town And Country's house, WELCOME!
There's some cocoa in that thermos there, so grab a cup and let's hang out a bit.
On my fall porch I like to combine a little bit of traditional and a little bit of farmhouse. And a whole lot of natural fall elements.
For Traditional Front Porch Fall Decor
My black rocking chairs are always a hit.
The plaid throw is actually just a piece of plaid fabric straight off the bolt from JoAnn Fabrics and casually tossed on the back of the rocker. Shhh - don't tell anyone.
Porch urns are another traditional element for my porch decor.
In the spring I wrote an entire post on how we should ditch the urns and be more creative with our porch planters and looky here, I've got urns on my porch!
For some reason, I didn't take a close up photo of my urns with the Kimberly ferns in them (thinking maybe you wouldn't notice my hypocrisy?). But you can see them on either side of the front door.
For Farmhouse Front Porch Fall Decor
Wooden crates full of mums and cabbage/kale are a no-brainer.
As are bushel baskets.
These tall ones are technically peach baskets. Which sort of makes it ironic that I have a peach crate setting on top of the peach basket.
But I figured that out just now when I was writing this post, so I guess it's just ironic that I didn't put two and two together before now.
Or I have no idea of the definition of irony.
I found the wooden peach crate at my favorite vintage/farmhouse store a few weeks ago. It was one of the items I showed you in my 10 Fall Porch Ideas To Score At The Flea Market.
Peaches don't shout fall to me though, so I filled it with faux pumpkins and leaves instead.
Hmm, let's talk about my wreath.
I made a smaller grapevine one the other day with a cute little pumpkin and owl on it but it ended up being too puny to work for the porch.
So I whipped together this one using a larger grapevine wreath, a bushel basket lid and the metal leaf I bought at the Country Living Fair.
In short, I don't love it. It'll stay here until I put my Halloween stuff out. I'm tired of making wreaths.
For Natural Front Porch Fall Decor
Of course, real pumpkins are always a good idea to jazz up your fall porch.
This is a peanut pumpkin, or as my husband refers to it, the pumpkin with a disease.
I also have the standard deep orange pumpkin by the front door and the mums and cabbage/kale to round out the natural elements.
In past years I have occasionally used corn stalks on my porch also. But with the ferns still kicking it, I felt corn stalks might be sending a conflicting message.
Besides, no offense to corn stalks, they can be a little messy.
If you want to see how I transitioned this porch decor to a Halloween look you can see it on my post titled Halloween Porch Decorations.
OK, that's all I have to show you, so I'm going to have to ask you to get off my porch now.
You can run over to Stacy at Not Just A Housewife's gorgeous home. She would love to have you visit with her for a bit and maybe she'll actually invite you inside her house.

A peanut pumpkin!! So glad to know it's name. I bought one and my family won't quit about it!! I kinda like them, they're diffrrent. I love that you use COLOR!

It looks so very nice and colorful! I also copied your idea and put my plaid shawl over one of my rockers. I found fall tablecloths at the Dollar store and wrapped them around such throw pillows for my rocking chairs. But my mums aren't doing so well when I separated them into containers...So I added some fake fall foliage. I love the thermos!! Nice job Pam.

Aw...Pam! I love all the color and warmth of Autumn on your porch. You do a bang up job of pulling things together. I love that you are able to showcase so many of the treasures that you find in your searches. That really makes it special for me. I LOVE color in the fall. Orange pumpkins and fall leaves stir my heart.
Hope you have a great weekend. xo Diana

Your porch is all kinds of beautiful, Pam! The crate is gorgeous! You do a beautiful job of pulling together wonderful pieces!
Stacy Risenmay
So pretty! I hope you get lots of time to enjoy it!
Shelly
Ha, you had the same idea i had, using material from JoAnn fabric. However, at a flea market last weekend, I found a pretty fall throw for $12.00, so I ended up with it. It is pretty, so hopefully, the rain won't come in on it! Your porch looks beautiful! I love the fall colors!
Blessings
Pam
We're cheating 🙂 Ours won't keep you warm, but they looks good! And actually just a few hours after I took these photos the farmer behind us cut down his soy beans down, so it got all dusty anyhow. I just dusted it off and was good to go. Probably would have felt bad if it was an expensive throw!

Glad to see natural elements used...I love the traditional orange pumpkin, not that I don't love the "diseased" one too. I actually love those interesting looking pumpkins & gourds, but as I'm a tradition-loving girl, I love tradition. The rocking chairs beckon. The urns are fine with the ferns. If they're doing well, as they appear to be, leave them. They look great. Would you believe my hydrangeas are still blooming? This is a crazy year, it seems. Can't wait to see your stroller all decked out.
Pam
I've left ferns out until after Thanksgiving before. You'd think they wouldn't like the cooler weather, but they just keep on growing, so I feel bad getting rid of them prematurely 🙂
Judy K.
Thanks for adding color; I love fall colors. All of the white/gray décor gets to be a bit boring and does not celebrate the changes of autumn.
Pam
I always think of oranges, reds and rich colors when I think of fall, so I'm not sure I could ever stick to a more reserved color palette.
Julie
That fern and mum look so gorgeous together, Pam! I love the idea of crates, too. I need some crates now 😉 I am all for team color, girl! Pinning XO
Pam
Color all the way!!!
Cristina
Yes. Thanks for all those pretty colors of Fall! I could rock on that porch for days! Love the crates and urns.
Pam
Maybe we can trade outdoor spaces. I can use your potting bench and you can rock away all day 🙂
Fonda Rush
The Boston fern is gorgeous. I was going to ask if it was fake. I kill every single one I've tried. Love your peach basket with a peach crate on top!
Pam
They're actually real. I don't know what I'm going to do with them this winter, because in the past any fern I have tried to over-winter has died. They should be good outside until after Thanksgiving though 🙂
kris @ Junk Chic Cottage
Hi Pam,
Looks amazing as always. I am that neutral girl but I love to swoon over your colorful girls decor. I want to come and sit on that front porch too.
Hugs,
Kris
Pam
Come on over! I'll pull out some off-white pumpkins just for you 🙂
Nancy @ Artsy Chicks Rule
Yay for team colorful! 🙂 Your porch looks so inviting, I want to come sit with a cup of hot cider!
Pam
Two votes for Team Colorful 🙂
Melissa's Antiques
Looks great! You've given me a few ideas to finish off my front porch.
Pam
And you probably already have all that in your barn stash too 🙂
Jennifer @ Town and Country Living
Love your porch, Pam! Those vintage crates need to be on my porch!! 🙂
Pam
I'm sort of addicted to buying them right now. I'm trying to think of what I can do with them for Christmas 🙂
Kim
What a pretty porch you have, Pam. And I am team color all the way, too! Enjoy that cocoa. 😉
Pam
Thank you. My previous house had a postage stamp sized porch, so I enjoy making up for it with this one.
