I took your advice and used an old picnic basket on my porch, planted with a variety of varigated real greenery. I cheated a bit and shuffled in a few faux flowers. Discreetly, but your visitors never notice and everyone comments on the welcoming greenery. I lined the basket with plastic and then put in the plants in slightly larger pots. They're thriving!
With thrift store shopping: look at the quality and consider changing the buttons. It can revive any piece. I paid $4 for a velvet Chanel style cropped jacket, changed the buttons and it brought the jacket back to life. Store the older buttons in a jar or box - you never know....

Great finds!! I love the silver pitcher. You can use that for so many different things. Its Great. The vintage blue jay is great too. I have gotten so into birds since I started blogging. I didn't feel that way before so I love looking at them around here...
