If the doll was French it could be worth thousands...especially if it said Jemeau on the back of the head...

I am trying to pare down so I have to be very picky about what I bring home from the thrift store. BUT, I did happen upon a dresser, I had seen it there awhile ago and forgot about it. When I went in this time it was still marked full price. After asking the manager what their mark down policy is, he gave it to me for $24.00 dollars. A great find because the dresser is in great condition and only needs a paint job. Have a wonderful weekend. Alaina

probably German or possibly French...probably from around 1900 give or take a few years.
The head is stuffed to protect the mechanism, called a weight on a rocker, attached behind the eyes
from moving back and forth so as not to break the dolls head when being moved around. It is a proper way to store the bisque dolls or to ship them. She is missing her wig which would have gone right on top of the hole on her head and she would have been adorable..add an antique dress some antique doll undies and socks and leather shoes and should be great,...hope this info. helps clear up things a bit for poor dolly! But that price tag was awfully optimistic!

See, I could soak the top in regular hydrogen peroxide and the bottom in Oxiclean and then do a comparison. Great idea!

Love the ironstone and the mirror. I've done the finger swipe thing a time or two myself. Makes you want to down a bottle of hand sanitizer doesn't it.

Hey girl,
Can you tell that I'm a teacher and have to give advice and do research? Yes...it's true. Anyway, I was researching and hydrogen peroxide is O.K. to soak ironstone (I've even done it) and while researching, Oxiclean is formulated using hydrogen peroxide...so perhaps it is safe. Perhaps between the two of us and your other readers, we can discover whether Oxiclean is THE best way to clean old ironstone. I know it rocks cleaning old linens, wouldn't it be great if it had another benefit? Oh, and I stumbled on some sites for home made Oxiclean and places to purchase it much, much cheaper. So, lady with the blog, I think you have an assignment...now I really sound like a teacher.
By the way, your humor is one of the reasons I read your blog and I appreciate that you mentioned using different fingers while saliva cleaning dirty pieces. Junking is a dirty career path but we are all up for the challenge if the end result is a treasure.
