It was barn sale weekend here in Ohio. Three barn sales (that I know of) in the Central Ohio area.
Did I go to all three? I'm probably letting the hardcore shoppers down here, but I just didn't want to drive all over town, so I ended up only going to one.
I know, I'll turn in my thrifting card now.
I picked up this wooden cabinet??? door and a child's metal chair at the sale though.
To give you perspective, the top of the chair comes up to the top of my thigh. It is quite petite.
My butt will not be fitting on this chair. Ever.
The next time you see this chair it will be sporting a new red paint job. I have plans for it on my back porch for Christmas.
Seriously, check out this photo of a similar chair in Jeniffer Rizzo's home and tell me that just does not shout Christmas!
The cabinet door is pretty dinged up, but in a good way. I'm going to either use it as a photo backdrop or in my house to hang a wreath from. Or maybe both.
I'm trying to use restraint in my purchases right now with the holidays coming up, but if I was in a buying mood I would have picked up quite a few other things at the sale.
At a yard sale earlier this month, I nabbed these plastic popcorn style candles. I know this style isn't for everyone, but I enjoy the fun, festive, borderline tacky Christmas decor.
Let me know when my borderline jumps right on over that line smack dab into Tackyville.
And these retro styled glasses.
I have serious doubts these are truly vintage, since the bottom of the glasses are pretty thick and the paint job is pretty crisp, but I liked the vintage styled graphics on them.
Please don't tell me they gave them away with the purchase of a Whopper at Burger King last year.
Well, that's it for my shopping lately. How's your shopping been this week?

Pam,
That stool is great in the yellow but you are right painted red for a Christmas vignette is going to be fantastic. I think we had those popcorn candles when I was a kid. I remember that being very popular.

When I was young in the 1950's my mother had a little red stool just like yours for me to sit on. I have a "first day of school" picture of me sitting on it. Thankfully I still have it at age 66 and it lives in my potting shed. My butt doesn't fit anymore either!

I've been reading about these popcorn beauties on numerous blogs - are they the new "in" thing for this year? Neat!!

Well, last year it was blow molds (at least in my mind), so maybe it's going to be popcorn kitsch this year. Although I saw some pretty neat vintage Christmas corsages on another blog this morning.

Ummm...it wasn't Burger King- Try Arby's! lol Love your semi-tacky candles. I will certainly let you know if you cross the line-and you KNOW I will! lol
That door looks like the door in one of our old houses that went into a closet built into the eaves of the house and then there was storage behind it.
LOVE that stool- I would have arm-wrestled you for that one! xo Diana

LOVING those Christmas candles. AWESOME find.

Hello Pam,
I would use that awesome old door to display a pretty Christmas wreath and then maybe a boxwood wreath. Come on over and share all your treasures at NTT.
Blessings,

I love that stool. It will be fabulous red.

Love the little chair and painting it red will look really good. Great finds - no sales for me - have no room any more for stuff unless I get rid of things. But you really got some great deals.
Have a happy week.

You nabbed some great deals, Pam!! The popcorn lanterns bring back memories of my mother's Christmas decor. I think we had Snoopy hanging in the window. Love the cute chair and the door, too!

You know I'm loving those popcorn candles. I'm totally smitten on that chair and can't wait to see the paint transformation. My little Josie would be loving that chair. Good treasures.

I love the chair and red will be good. The cabinet was a good buy. The candles are tacky in a fun way!

Love the chair. Did you go to the sale in Granville. I didn't even know they were having it. I saw one on the other part of town and stopped. The guy asked if I had been to the Picker Sisters Sale. I went. It seemed they had more than the last time but the same ole.....not marked items. If you ask they come up with a price. I don't like that. So I didn't buy anything. Let me know if you know of any others coming up. Wondering about French Hen. You haven't crossed the line, yet, hah.
Pam Kessler
No, didn't hit the Granville one. I was going to go to that one on Friday, but had to stay in town instead. I used to love that sale too. I'll let you know if I hear about the French Hen one.
