    Nostalgic Christmas Porch Decorations

Published by Pam Kessler | 526 words. · About 3 minutes to read this article. - 24 Comments

Today is Christmas Porch Decor day!!!

It's almost as exciting as Christmas morning, but with no wrapping paper to clean up afterward.

This is the day when I get together with a great group of bloggers and we all show you what we've done with our porches for the holiday season!

Everything from big porches to small porches. From patios to screened porches.

    We've got it all.

So make sure to stick around to the end so you can visit some of the other "porches" for decorating ideas.

    Nostalgic Plaid Christmas Porch Decor

As for my Christmas porch decorations, this year I wanted to create a nostalgic look.

A nod to simpler, more innocent times.

So much about 2020 sucks (can you say sucks nowadays?), so I wanted to just slow down and truly savor every moment of decorating my porch this year.

And use some of my very favorite things that remind me of carefree winter days of childhood.

I also wanted to do something that wasn't so OVER THE TOP that it was impossible to recreate on your own porch.

Don't have a large front porch?

I purposefully didn't decorate every single inch of my porch this year to show you it's not needed.

I kept most things close to the front door, with a good 6-8 feet of porch left buck naked to the right.

You can pick bits and pieces of my porch decor to add to just about any sized porch, even a stoop.

Just the skis and some greenery around your front door would look cute!

    On a tight budget?

Use what you already have. No need to buy anything new, just "shop" your house to find stuff you can repurpose for the porch.

Your garage or shed is a good place to start.

Hello, I have a shovel on my porch!

    Using Greens On Your Porch

Fresh or faux, greenery on your porch is a great idea!

I made the Christmas wreath myself and have a detailed tutorial on it HERE - Homemade Winter Wreath With Fresh Evergreens.

And the three crocks with pine boughs and little trees are so EASY to make.

I simply trimmed my pots of dead fall chrysanthemums from my fall porch down to dirt level and just stabbed the greenery into the dirt in the pots.

You can read more about it in my How To Make Winter Porch Pots post.

It really was a FUN porch to decorate!

OK, enough with all the plaid nostalgia over here, let's get on to the rest of the porches in the tour!

Pam, your porch looks so cheerful and pretty! I always like your real-life style of decorating. I have a very small porch area, and one thing I did this year was grab some pinecones from my yard (yeah, I don't rake much) and put them in a big dark green flower pot by the front door. Thanks for your ideas..

Pam your nostalgic front porch brought me back to simpler times. Much needed especially after 2020. I love your beautiful fresh greenery displays. You have put together such a warm and cozy front porch and the pop of color from the aqua shovel is perfect!

Pam, I love all of your vintage porch decor. The plaid, snow shovel, and picnic basket are so cozy. And your greenery is beautiful. The black rockers look like the perfect place to sit and sip on some hot cocoa.
